In his Bloomberg Opinion piece (2/22), “Bond Volatility Is Eerily Quite. But Is It Too Quiet?”, Brian Chappatta questions the market’s current holding pattern — widely viewed as calm — as instead, a possible prelude to a storm. And at what point can we tell the difference?

Continued market volatility and listless trading, combined with the uncertainty of Brexit and U.S.-China trade talks seems to have had a hand in Investor ‘gridlock’ similar to that on the political front in Washington.

Still, the cautionary ‘squeeze’ that many expected at the start of 2019 hasn’t come to pass yet, but neither has the bullish bell rung.
